History

Our school counselor, Mrs. Aldape, is dedicated to I.W.A’s counseling program (in collaboration with Catholic Dioceses). As counselor she identifies and works with students in need of social-emotional support in consultation with the teaching team.

  • As a school guidance counselor she offers guidance lessons to both elementary and middle school students.
  • Observes student learning upon the request of administration/ faculty in order to help evaluate the needs of the child in question and explore possible strategies and solutions.
  • Provides short-term social, emotional, physical, spiritual, educational development, and behavioral support for individual students as needed.
  • Serves as a resource to the I.W.A team for developmental, educational, and social emotional concerns.
  • Provides responsive services such as clinical counseling to individuals and/ or small groups.
  • Provides crisis support and assistance to students and families as they navigate crisis and emergency situations.
  • Provides support for students and families to access school or community resources for additional assistance and information.
  • Develops behavior and academic management plans for students as needed, and tracks their progress.
  • Assist the school with Red Ribbon as well as helps coordinate other events.
  • Helps with the transition of our 8th grade class into a High School of their choice.
  • Takes care of IWA college bound program that provides early resources, guidance and exposure of career exploration and a pre- college experience.
  • Works with eight grade students to complete the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) assessment and exams prior to entering High School.
